I’ve always loved the following photograph of a windmill on a farm taken by my partner in South Africa.
The mixture of the calm colours, views and sunny weather never failed to brighten my mood. Living in an apartment with limited windows, I thought this photo as a painting would be the ideal scene to look out to. With this mind, I added a window frame to this photo in Photoshop.
With my new reference photo and a watercolour canvas, I started painting ‘Windmill on a Farm’ in late November 2020. Less than a month later is the finished result below. I’m really happy with how the painting turned out, especially the clouds and the window frame. Whenever I want to escape the rainy weather of Ireland, I’ll know where to look!
